LIVE ART INSTALLATION: Art Out Side-POMOARTS

Join visual artist Jewelles Smith as she brings her studio to the public during POMO ARTS summer festival, Art Out Side— creating live, immersive art that explores the meaning of Home in a time of housing crises, climate change, and disability justice. You can find information about the festival here.

Through printmaking, collage, and paint, Jewelles invites you to witness the creative process — and become part of it. Visitors are encouraged to write down their own reflections on what Home means to them in this shifting world. These contributions will directly inspire and be woven into a larger, ongoing art series — a collaboration between artist and community.

“As a disabled artist and human rights monitor living in BC — facing the parallel crises of ongoing climate emergencies and housing — I want to continue a dialogue about these concepts with community members through live artmaking. Lately, I’ve been drawn to the work of artists like Kathë Kollwitz, who used art to amplify social concerns in the early 20th century. I believe these are conversations art can facilitate — and perhaps, together, we can find a way through.”

Stop by, share your story, and watch the work unfold.
Art cards and a tip jar will be available for those who wish to support the project.

Sold Works

Explore a curated selection of Jewelles’ sold paintings — works that have found their forever homes but remain part of her living portfolio. Each piece tells a story and reflects her evolving journey through grief, justice, and resilience. While these works are no longer available for purchase, they offer insight into the depth and emotional texture of her practice.

If a sold painting speaks to you, a commissioned work in a similar spirit may be possible — reach out to begin the conversation. Get in touch with Jewelles here.
